Parks Canada Student Employment Program
Parks Canada offers full-time secondary school, CÉGEP, college, technical institute and university students access to over 1,000 student jobs across Canada every year. Jobs normally run from May to September in areas such as resource conservation services, visitor services, heritage presentation activities, assistance on the waterways or office support. Students have an opportunity to learn about Parks Canada and the federal government, and gain valuable work experience while developing and improving their employability skills.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must be:
Note: Students who are in their last year of study are eligible to work part-time until the completion of their last academic term. You may be asked to provide proof that you meet these requirements.

Re-Employment
Students who worked for Parks Canada as a student during the previous summer are often re-hired by the same park or site. The manager will contact the student directly to check interest/availability in returning to Parks Canada for student work.
To be considered for re-employment by Parks Canada, you must continue to meet the student program eligibility criteria and have worked in a student job with Parks Canada within the past year.
Pay
Your pay will be based on rates set by Parks Canada in line with federal government student programs

How to Apply
Parks Canada uses the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) as its recruitment tool to hire students. The core of the program is a computerized national inventory of students seeking a student job with the public service. This inventory is administered by the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Canada for approximately 90,000 names every year across Canada. FSWEP campaigns normally run from October of one year to September of the following year. The exact date of the beginning of the next campaign will be posted on the FSWEP site at the appropriate time. At the end of each campaign, the PSC deletes all the data from its computerized inventory, so students who wish to be considered for jobs must complete a new application for each campaign. There is no deadline for applying to the general inventory. However, most locations submit their requests for referrals from January to April.
To apply, fill out the FSWEP application form on-line and be sure to apply directly to the "Parks Canada Student Employment Programs" listed under "Departmental Programs". Schools, public libraries, campus career centres, Human Resource Centres of Canada, offices of the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Canada and cyber-cafés are excellent venues for students to access the Internet.
Your application will only be considered if it is complete. Therefore you must make sure that you have followed all the steps. The instructions are on the FSWEP site in Word format and in PDF Format
After you submit your job application, the form is sent electronically to a computerized database containing all the applications of students who applied during the current campaign. In late winter or early spring, Parks Canada locations submit requests for student referrals to the PSC. The PSC conducts a search in the database based on organizational requirements (e.g. year/level of education, field of study and skills). The system identifies all the students who meet the search requirements and randomly selects candidates to refer for each position. Only those students referred will be contacted by Parks Canada.
