Brooks Aqueduct |
Completed in 1914 by the Canadian
Pacific Railway’s irrigation division,
the Brooks Aqueduct was a vital link in
its expansive irrigation network.
Extending across a shallow 3.2 km
valley, this site stands as a monument to
the pioneers who developed this region.
Nearly a century ago, the Aqueduct
stretched the limits of engineering
design and the new concrete technology.
Through interpretive tours and public
programs, it continues to stretch the
imagination today.
The site is open from May 15 to
Labour Day and is located 8 km
southeast of Brooks, Alberta, just
off the Trans-Canada Highway.
