Introduction
Bears and people have shared this landscape for thousands of years. But within
the last hundred years, our human presence has grown rapidly within and around
the mountain parks; we are challenged to ensure bears have the space and habitat
they need to make a living.
This section takes you from the big picture of bear conservation to the various
"tools of the trade" which wardens use on a day-to-day basis to
respond to real-life situations. Together, these actions help protect both
bears and people, and contribute to our national parks’ overall goal
of ecological integrity.
