Early Season Snow Conditions
Backcountry users are reminded that early season shallow snow can be hazardous. To reduce the chance of injury, damage to gear and damage to alpine vegetation, snow depth should be about 50 cm or knee deep before you ski or board.

For current snow depths at Bow Summit please check the Banff, Yoho and Kootenay Avalanche Bulletin. For Parkers Ridge please check the Jasper Avalanche Bulletin.

Improvements will be made this fall to the Rockpile trail system in an effort to improve visitor experience in the Moraine Lake area.

Mt. Nestor Prescribed Fire
Parks Canada’s fire crews and Alberta Sustainable Resource Development are planning some guard burning in the Mount Nestor area this weekend. Parks Canada will be working cooperatively with the province of Alberta to carry out this approximately 2000 hectare prescribed fire on the boundary between Banff National Park and Spray Valley Provincial Park in Kananaskis Country.
