This big male grizzly was photographed on March 16th by remote camera in the lower Bow Valley. Male grizzlies can be out of their dens quite early in the spring.

It’s a great reminder that we’re entering bear season, and it’s time to brush up on bear safety and ensure all bear attractants are stored indoors.

For detailed bear safety advice, including what to do if you encounter a bear, read "Bears and People - A Guide to Safety and Conservation on the Trail".

Check the trail conditions report for the most current wildlife related warnings or closures.

Visitors and residents are reminded to report all bear sightings immediately to the Banff Warden Office at 403.762.1470.
